Please note: Plan on League Fee being higher than in previous years:

The exact figure is still to be determined.

New Business:

Monies Owed: The final team settled its balance, allowing monies owed by League from previous year to be distributed.  D. Hemerly indicated his embarrassment at teams failing to meet their obligations, causing the Tri-County League to be unable to meet its financial obligations, including the large debt owed to Todd Greb for the banquet book, 1998.  Changes were made to the By-Laws to penalize teams failing to meet their financial responsibilities at the end of the year.

New Team for 1999: Tri-City Erectors, playing at Lehigh University.   Manager and sponsor will be Bob Fatzinger.  Team will also include Ray Ganser, Mike Witkowski, Bob’s and Mike’s sons and other players formerly in Legion — no other teams will be “raided”.  There will be no scheduling problems except on Sunday, when the field is used by Senior League.  Team was unanimously approved for 1999.

Division Realignment: Addition of the new team will require realignment of divisions.  We will have 3 divisions of 5 teams each.  Teams will play 3 games against teams in their division and 2 games against teams in other divisions, for a total of 32 games.  Enclosed is a new address sheet with a draft of divisions.  Other suggestions are welcome — but have them written down.  We will discuss realignment and vote on divisions at next meeting.

Umpires: D. Hemerly, D. Snyder and several representatives planned to attend the upcoming meeting of the Bethlehem Umpires Association to discuss planned rate hikes, perceived lack of quality umpires and other matters.  They will report at the February meeting.  J. LaBella presented a draft of an umpire evaluation card.  Representatives should determine if they wish to adopt an evaluation method for 1999.

Tournament: J. LaBella is planning a tournament at Scherersville for the first weekend in May.  This tournament will serve a dual purpose: provide an opportunity for practice games as well as provide a real-game setting for umpire training.  There will be a fee, and teams will be guaranteed a certain number of games.  Teams should indicate to Joe LaBella by next meeting if they are interested in participating.

Officers: All agreed to run and were unanimously reelected; Dave Ernst (who was absent) should let Dave Hemerly know if he wishes to continue as Vice-President and if he will prepare the schedule.

By-Laws: The changes for 1999, as drafted by the By-Law committee in Fall 1999, were discussed and approved.  Anyone needing a copy of the revised By-Laws should see Jan Ciganick at next meeting.
