| 2005 Comments: George Hutson takes over the managerial reigns of a team that took a quick and hard fall from their playoff season of 2003...The Yankees were outstanding in 2003, but that stellar season must seem like it happened 10 years ago after a dismal 9-22 campaign in 2004 that saw the Yankees hit a 4-20 stretch after starting the year 3-1...And although the Yankees have improved their offense for 2005, the outlook doesn't look any brighter because they have a shortage of arms...Hutson (.419, 8 HR, 29 RBI, 23 runs), George Kressley (.390, 8 HR, 31 RBI, 24 Runs) and Howard Kressley (.361, 20 Runs) power the offense and they have added John Blazusiak (.431) from Jordan Creek, Dan Repsher (.370) from defunct Bushkill and Chad Waechili from ICC in 2002, which should help the 11th-ranked offense from a year ago, but pitching depth has got to be a concern...Workhorse Rob Castimore is not back and neither is Mike Kressley, so the workload is going to fall on to the shoulders of Jeremy Smith (who beat 2 playoff teams last year, including Gabelsville), Andrew Dottery, Matt Goldman and Dave Goldman...Gordy Kocher and Matt Kuronya are on the roster, and Hutson is going to need both of these two to step up immediately and give this team some quality innings or this could be another long year for the Yankees... |
