BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP -- Chad Waelchli paced a 12-hit ICC attack as the Pirates edged the Jordan Creek Gators in a slugfest, 11-10. Waelchli was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, including a pair of ribs on a 6th-inning single that proved to be the game winner. Jordan Creek got the action going early when starting pitcher Shawn Cadden helped his own cause with an RBI double in the 1st inning. ICC answered back in the 2nd with six runs on five hits. Dave Stauffer, Erik Ruff, Cory Schneck, and Kyle Ruff had consecutive run-scoring singles in the inning.

But the Gators weren't dead yet. Led by Frank Johnson's three hits, including a 3rd inning solo homer, they stormed back for a 9-6 lead in the 5th after scoring seven runs in their own big inning. Cadden helped himself again with his second hit of the game, this time a 2-run single during a parade of hitters in which nine straight batters made it on base safely, all with two out. Derek George and Julio Lebron followed Cadden with RBI singles, knocking starter Eric Baran out of the game. Baran was charged with two more runs when Joe Grazer singled off reliever Shaun McHugh for his 2nd hit of the day.

ICC recaptured the lead for good in the 6th inning, taking Baran off the hook and making a winner out of McHugh when Cory Schneck's sacrifice bunt was fielded by catcher Juan Lopez and thrown into right field, allowing Dave Stauffer to score, and then Waelchli stroked a single down the1st base line for two runs and the win.

Chris Wright picked up the save by pitching a tough 7th inning. He got some help on a controversial call by the home plate umpire, who ruled Phil Torcivia's fly ball to deep left field a foul ball. It was inches away from being a 3-run home run. Several members of the Gators' bench were ejected for arguing the call. Torcivia went on to single and load the bases, but the Gators only scored once to cut it to11-10, and that's how it ended.

The Pirates are 2-3 with the win and were led by Waelchli (3 hits), Dave Stauffer, and Erik and Kyle Ruff, all with 2 hits apiece. The Gators are also 2-3, led by Johnson with 3 hits. Joe Grazer and losing pitcher Cadden added two hits each.
