LIMEPORT - The Limeport Bulls clawed their way to .500 after a slow start to the season as they beat the Banko's A's 9-5 at Limeport Stadium. The Bulls made a statement that they will be among the eilte of the league by getting solid pitching by Chad Arnold and pounding out a season-high 15 hits. Arnold struck out eight and allowed four runs in six innings. The Bulls built a 2-0 lead with a P.J. Yoder home run in the first inning and a Nick Remaly double in the second.

Banko's stole the lead briefly in the third on a leadoff double by Vince Munjone, an RBI double by Andy Hammer, and a 2-run double by Rob Gontkosky. Chad Arnold settled down and returned to form after the big inning and struck out 6 batters in his last 3 innings of work.

Limeport tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the third when Rich Fenstermaker singled in Yoder, who had doubled to lead off the inning. The Bulls took back the lead in the fourth when Nick Remaly scored on a fielder's choice, but the A's bounced back to knot things up again at 4-4 on a Mark Davis RBI single.

Limeport took the lead for good in the bottom half of that same inning . Glenn Kushma scored on an error following Fenstermaker's infield single to shortstop. A throwing error trying to nab Kushma at third base went awry, allowing a run to score. That set up Steve Raysley's blast to left field that gave the Bulls a 7-4 lead. They got 2 more runs in the 6th inning on a single by Kushma.

But the A's weren't out of gas yet. Jim Farrell started the seventh inning in relief of Arnold, and he immediately got into some trouble. Matt Long cracked a leadoff double and the next three batters also reached base. Jason Strunk got on board on an error, which allowed Long to score. Gontkosky walked and Davis singled to load the bases for Banko's with no outs. But in true Limeport fashion, Farrell worked his way out of the jam by setting down Mike Palos, Josh Rea and Munjone in order on strikes.

Limeport had 6 players with 2 hits: Fenstermaker, Kushma, Joe Pochron, Remaly, John Michael Vito, and Yoder. Chad Arnold picked up his first win of the season for the Bulls, who improve to 4-4.

Banko's (8-2) was led by Hammer and Davis with two hits apiece and with the loss now trail first place Lehigh Township by a full game in the standings. The A's will host Lower Nazareth on June 1st. Limeport plays host to Lehigh Township on June 3rd.
