CETRONIA -- The Banko's Athletics Express continued to roll, pounding out 23 hits in a 22-1 rout of the Cetronia Longhorns. The A's are now 17-9, and the 17 wins are among the best in Tri-County history for a first-year team. All of Banko's starters had a hit in the game, and seven players had at least two hits. Mark Davis led the way, going 5-for-6 and driving in six runs while scoring three. In the fifth inning he hit a grand slam. Rob Gontkosky added four hits and four RBI (including a three-run double), and winning pitcher Judd Frank (2-0) added three hits and two RBI. On the mound, he was equally impressive, allowing one unearned run on eight hits with seven strikeouts in a complete game effort. Bob Breitfeller, Jason Strunk, Nick D'Amico, and Matt Long all had two hits.

Both teams traded scoreless first innings before Banko started the second inning with walks by D'Amico and Paul Woodling. Andy Hammer blooped a single to right to load the bases. Dave Arndt (4-1) walked Breitfeller for the first run, and Gontkosky's double scored three more. The rout was on. In the third inning, Long doubled to score D'Amico and make it 5-0. The Longhorns scored their lone run in the bottom half of the inning when Scott Heyer singled, moved to second on an error, stole third, and came home on Adam Schafer's fielder's choice.

Things got worse for Cetronia in the fourth inning. Consecutive one-out singles by Strunk, Gontkosky, Davis, and Frank led to four more runs for Banko's. The singles by Davis and Frank scored a run each, and Woodling added a two-run double. In the fifth inning the A's added six more runs. Hammer led off by reaching on an error and Breitfeller singled to chase Arndt from the game. Strunk singled to left to plate Hammer, and reliever Steve Graff walked Gontkosky to load the bases. Davis clubbed a grand slam, his third home run of the season, to put his team ahead 14-1.

Chris Peters relieved Graff and pitched a scoreless sixth before getting shelled for six runs in the seventh inning. Don Rehrig led off with a single and Breitfeller walked behind him. Gontkosky's second double of the game drove in Rehrig, and Davis followed him with an RBI single. Frank then drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly. D'Amico singled and Shaun Arrington walked to load the bases. Long and Rehrig picked up RBI's with back-to-back bases loaded walks, and Breitfeller drove in his third run on a single to cap the day's scoring.
