PENNSBURG -- Brad Sechler and Jeff Moyer matched six-strikeout performances but Moyer's Upper Perk Chiefs (10-14) prevailed 3-2 over the Cetronia Longhhorns (16-13) on Dan Pierce's one-out sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.

Both pitchers traded three scoreless innings to start the game. Sechler (4-2) got into a jam in the third inning when he allowed singles to Scott Reeder, Bob Gehringer, and Dave Nowicki, but got out of it when right fielder Chris Peters threw Reeder out at the plate to end the inning.

Cetronia struck first with two unearned runs in the fourth inning. Peters led off the inning with a single and stole second base. After a strike out, Mark Jarrell lined a single down the third base line. Jon Williams grounded back to the mound for out number two, but then Matt Corona's ground ball was thrown away, allowing Peters and Jarrell to score.

Upper Perk rallied to tie the game at two in the fifth inning. Matt Rush walked to lead off the inning, and scored when Scott Gehringer doubled to deep center field. Bob Gehringer singled in the next at-bat to drive in his brother with the tying run. Sechler got Nowicki and Pierce to pop up and struck out Matt Derr to end the inning.

Moyer retired eight straight batters from the fifth to seventh innings before giving up a two-out single to Adam Berrigan.

The Chiefs won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning when, with one out, Nowicki slapped a single into right field. Moyer (3-4) helped his own cause and moved him over to third base when his ground ball hopped over the head of first baseman Jarrell and into right field. Pierce hit a high, deep fly ball into center field for the second out, but Nowicki tagged and scored the winning run.

Cetronia was led by Peters and Berrigan with two hits each. Peters tripled in the first inning and Berrigan added a double in the fifth. The Longhorns play host to Jordan Creek July 7th as they look to hang on to the seventh and  final playoff spot.

Upper Perk's big hitters were Nowicki with three hits and Bob Gehringer with two hits and an RBI. The next Chiefs play at Gabelsville on July 7th and are now 3 1/2 games behind Cetronia for the final playoff spot as we head down the stretch.
